I remember my affliction and my wandering,
the bitterness and the gall.
I well remember them,

This week, we are holding up and praying for the people of Haiti and Afghanistan. I read the news of the earthquake in Haiti in horror; its people have been through so much. The poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, still in turmoil over a presidential assassination just a few weeks back, and now another earthquake? As news of the Taliban’s swift take-over and fear that has gripped Afghanistan continues to spread, it’s hard not to feel a sense of hopelessness. Another earthquake, the Taliban again, another crisis in Israel and Palestine, another COVID wake — another another.
Has God forgotten to be merciful?
As you go through this week, I hope you’ll join us in intercession for Haiti, Afghanistan, and the world. If you’re like me and struggle to find the words, when these things come to mind, you can join us in saying:
Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
